Ecumenical Evensong at Wells Cathedral

A hundred years ago 'The Malines Conversations' paved the way for a new relationship between the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches - the beginnings of dialogue that led to the ARCIC process.

We have a special link with Wells, as the Dean of Wells at the time (The Very Revd Dr J Armitage Robinson) was a member of those Conversations that took place in Belgium.

He enjoyed close friendships with Downside Abbey.

To mark the Centenary here in Somerset there will be an Ecumenical Evensong at Wells Cathedral at 3pm on Sunday 19 June 2022, followed at 4pm by a public lecture by Archbishop Rowan Williams, Co-Patron of The Malines Conversations Group.
